Gruff Rhys has a new album out soon

Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys is to release his second solo album in the New Year.

‘Candylion’, the follow-up to 2005’s ‘Yr Atal Genhedlaeth’, will be released in January. It will be preceded by a single of the same name on December 4, featuring guest vocals by Lisa Jen from Welsh medievalists ‘9 Bach’.

The single will be available on 7”, CD and download with additional new songs ‘Colossal Smile’ and ‘Somewhere Or Other’ on the B-sides.

The album was recorded mainly with Gorwel Owen in Llanfaelog, Wales with additional recording and mixing taking place in Rio De Janeiro with Mario Caldato Jr, producer of the last two Super Furry Animals albums, ‘Phantom Power’ and ‘Love Kraft’.

Rhys will be touring the record in February, and has confirmed two support slots on the forthcoming Flaming Lips UK tour, at Glasgow SECC (November 10) and London Hammersmith Apollo(November 14).

Super Furry Animals are currently mixing their eighth studio album, which will also be released in 2007 on their new label Rough Trade.
