SFA - THE 'MANE' ATTRACTION!

Super Furry Animals release their fourth studio album 'MWNG'on May 1 through their own label Placid Casual - and nme.com has translated the titles especially for non-Welsh speakers, because it's sung entirely in Welsh.

Explaining the album title, SFA frontman Gruff Rhys told nme.com: "Mwng' means 'mane'. No specific animal in mind, but I suppose it's an extension of a Super Furry Animal, something that keeps you warm, because it's a winter album. But we're releasing it on the first of May." Quite.

The tracklisting for the new album, with English translations, is: 'Drygioni' ('Badness'),'Ymaelodi A'r Ymylon' ('Joining The Periphery' or 'Banished To The Periphery'), 'Y Gwyneb Iau' ('Liverface'), 'Dacw Hi' ('There She Is'), 'Nythod Cacwn' ('Beehives'), 'Pan Ddaw'r Wawr' ('When Dawn Breaks'), 'Ysbeidiau Heulog' ('Sunny Intervals'), 'Y Teimlad' ('The Feeling'), 'Sarn Helen Gwreiddiau Dwfn' ('Deep Roots') and 'Mawrth Oer Ar Y Blaned Neifion' ('A Cold Mars On Neptune').

'Mwng', which is said to have a more electronic feel than the band's previous offerings, also features Super Furry Animals' first cover version - 'Y Teimlad' a song by Welsh group Datblygu. It was recorded in Anglesey, Cardiff and Bath and mixed at Stiwdio Ofn by Super Furry Animals and Gorwel Owen, who co-produced 'Fuzzy Logic' and 'Radiator'.

Meanwhile, SFA headline All Tomorrow's Parties at Camber Sands on April 7th.
