Gorillaz, Lou Reed and Lee 'Scratch' Perry docs also on schedule

A string of music-related documentaries are slated to be screened at the forthcoming SXSW Film Conference & Festival.

The festival will run ahead of the music conference from March 7-15 and will include screenings of Martin Scorsese’s documentary ‘Shine A Light’, Gorillaz ‘Bananaz’, the Bela Fleck travelogue ‘Throw Down Your Heart The Upsetter: The Life & Music of Lee “Scratch” Perry’, and Julian Schnabel’s concert film ‘Lou Reed’s Berlin’.

VH-1 will screen a work-in-progress version of their upcoming documentary, ‘The Night James Brown Saved Boston’.

As previously reported, Lou Reed is the keynote speaker at the music leg of the conference, which runs March 12-16.

NME.COM will be coming live from SXSW 2008, bringing you all the latest news, reviews, and gossip from the festival which will see performances from almost 1,600 acts over five days.
