A Place to Bury Strangers kick off SXSW day one

The 'loudest band in New York' hit Austin

A Place To Bury Strangers were one of the first bands to play at SXSW in Austin today (March 12), playing a tremendously loud show at Mohawk.

The self-proclaimed "loudest band in New York" took to the stage at 1:15pm (CMT) at Mohawk, kicking off their decibel-defying set with 'Gimme Acid'.

Guitarist/vocalist Oliver Ackerman channeled the band’s trademark distorted sound via his self-built pedals, prompting much of the packed house to dig for their earplugs.

The show was the first of three today for A Place To Bury Strangers, who are also on the bill for this week’s three-day NME extravaganza at the Wave venue, kicking off tomorrow.
