Freak-folkers use special drum technique

Freak folkers The Dodos played a well received gig at the Mowhawk venue as part of the SXSW today (March 14).

The two piece, who were formerly called Dodo Bird played a set of chiming melody, alt country drones and folk finery.

Duo Meric Long and Logan Kroeber's set saw Long at times standing over his drums as he played.

Later, Fleet Foxes wowed the crowd with their gentle mix of alt.country and southern rock.

Singer Robin Pecknold's acapella voice had the crowd in raptures.

Then Athens, Georgia's The Whigs played a tight set at Stubbs bar.

The three-piece played songs from their albums 'Give 'Em All A Big Fat Lip' and 'Mission Control'.
