White Denim rock massive SXSW barbeque

Austin rockers give crowd a taste of their hometown

White Denim heated up an already sweltering Saturday afternoon at SXSW with a blistering set at Waterloo Park.

The Austin garage-rock trio drew a sizeable crowd despite the strong midday sun for their early set at the massive Mess With Texas barbeque.

The crowd cheered loudly for the hometown band as they munched on popcorn and ate colourful shaved ice to stay cool.

The band played several tracks from their 2007 debut EP 'Let's Talk About It'. They said little to the audience besides, "Thank you," and members of the crowd shouted, "Fuck yeah!" in response.

The all-day Texas barbeque features more than 30 bands on three stages including Pissed Jeans, Yeasayer, Simian Mobile Disco and The Breeders.

Stay tuned for additional reports from SXSW's Mess With Texas barbeque later in the day.
