Mystery Jets organise concert for Syd Barrett

‘What Colour Is Sound’ will pay tribute to Pink Floyd star

Mystery Jets have revealed they have organised a charity concert for the late Pink Floyd founder and solo artist Syd Barrett, who died in July.

Held at the Islington Union Chapel, proceeds from ‘What Colour Is Sound: A Tribute To Syd Barrett’ will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Lupen Crook, Kid Harpoon and The Television Personalities’ Daniel Treacy are all set to perform at the gig being held on September 18.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the Eel Pie Island eccentrics have recorded a tribute song for Barrett. ‘Scarecrows In The Rain’ will be released on September 4 on the band’s ‘Diamonds In The Dark EP’.

One of The Television Personalities’ 1978 singles was titled ‘I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives’, and suggested the famously reclusive star lived “in a little house / with a little pet dog and a little pet mouse.”

Barrett, famous for songs such as ‘Arnold Layne’ and ‘See Emily Play’, as well as solo album ‘The Madcap Laughs’, died from pancreatic cancer after suffering from diabetes in his final years.
