Pink Floyd legend's belongings auctioned off

Syd Barrett set to help artists from beyond the grave

Pink Floyd legend's belongings auctioned off

The family of Pink Floyd legend Syd Barrett have revealed they will donate a percentage of the money raised from the auction of his belongings to aid educational development.

The event will be held at Cheffins Auctioneers in Cambridge, the star’s home city, on November 29. Barrett’s family decided to auction his possessions following his death in July aged 60 from pancreatic cancer.

Among the items which will be auctioned off are a number of paintings - Barrett trained at Camberwell Art School in London before founding Pink Floyd in the Sixties. After becoming a virtual recluse in 1974, he returned to his first love.

More details on the auction can be found at Cheffins.co.uk.
