NOT GOTCHA!

Band depart Mushroom records, Aussie label taken over by (former) Aussie media mogul last year...

NOT GOTCHA!
Symposium have parted company with their record label, Infectious, because they were unhappy with media magnate Rupert Murdoch's shareholding in parent label Mushroom.

The band's spokesman told NME: "They had a clause where they could leave if they wanted to and they decided to exercise that right. There's no animosity. But things changed and the band didn't like it, especially 'cos of all the Murdoch stuff."

He added that the band still had their US deal with Red Ant and they were now looking for a new UK label. They are also busy writing and demoing new material for the follow-up to their debut album, 'On The Outside'.

"They're optimistic about the future," the spokesman added. "They see it as a challenge."

Meanwhile, Symposium have announced a tour of smaller, "cosy" venues. They call at

Falmouth Pirates (March 3) Stoke Staffordshire University (5) Oxford Zodiac (6) Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms (7) Leicester Princess Charlotte (8) Bristol Fleece & Firkin (9) Glasgow King Tut's (11) Newcastle Northumbria (12) Leeds Duchess Of York (13) Brighton Richmond (15) Colchester Arts Centre (16) Gloucester Guildhall (17) London Highbury Garage (18)
