SOAD HEAD FOR THE HILLS!

System Of A Down have started recording their new album.


The band have spent the last year in extensive pre-production for the follow-up to 2001's 'Toxicity' and have now moved into a home studio in Hollywood Hills to set about recording.


Guitarist Daron Malkian explained how the sound of the new album could come as a shock. He said: "There is a wide array of influences in our new songs. The influences range from Kraftwerk to Dark Throne to to , but it all fits together, it works."


System Of A Down are taking a new approach to recording this time round, planning to record only the songs that will make the final album.

Malkian said: "We'll play a song through and record it, listen to it and decide what could make it even better - repeat a chorus, simple rearrangement, we all spark off each other. Some of the new songs have really great moments, we want to make the entire song a really great moment.


"We were ready for a change, we wanted a different vibe and we needed to progress. We've always recorded in traditional studios, but this was a good move. It's a great place, it's not sterile and there are beautiful grounds to venture into. We're enjoying each other and the music we're making."


There is currently no release date set.
