T In The Park hailed success by organisers

The bash has a calmer second day after a tricky Friday

T In The Park has been hailed as a success by its organisers, despite a difficult start when rain turned much of the site to mud.

The inclement conditions caused difficulties because of the adverse effect on the car parks. But despite the difficulty in walking through sludge, with only 184 people visiting the hospital tent, a much lower figure than at this time during the 2006 festival. There have been no serious injuries.

In terms of crime, police say they have only taken five people into custody so far.

Chief superintendent Matt Hamilton said: “After the event’s initial weather difficulties, everyone has been in great spirits.”

Festival director Geoff Ellis commented: “The atmosphere on site is better than ever. We got a break in the weather and managed to solve the problems we had yesterday.”

The action continues tonight with headline slots from The Killers, The View and Brian Wilson.

NME.COM will be bringing you all the action from the T In The Park and Oxegen festivals this weekend.
