Tinie Tempah has spent £24,000 on a pair of Back To The Future-inspired trainers.

The rapper snapped up the very first pair of the limited edition Nikes at a charity auction in Los Angeles, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The footwear range features exact replicas of the glowing trainers from 1989's Back To The Future II. Nike is planning to release 1,500 pairs of the 2011 Nike Mag Sneakers to be auctioned on eBay.

All proceeds from the sale will go to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease research, the charity set up by the actor who played Marty McFly in the sci-fi comedy franchise. The online auction is due to begin on September 18.

Earlier this year, Tinie Tempah told NME he had been working on his new album with Pharrell Williams.

In a video interview which you can view below, the rapper said that the record, the follow-up to his Mercury Prize-nominated debut 'Disc-Overy', is "sound amazing"
