Take That have offered their support to former bandmate Robbie Williams, who reportedly went into rehab last week to be treated for prescription drug dependency.

The star checked himself into a US rehabilitation clinic on his 33rd birthday (February 13), missing the BRIT Awards (February 14) where his old band won the British Single prize. Williams was nominated for British Live Act in the awards but failed to win, losing out to Muse.

Ex-bandmate Mark Owen criticised host Russell Brand and Oasis star Noel Gallagher for their comments about the singer’s drug problems during the live broadcast, adding that their jokes “made it look like he was being mocked”.

Talking about his concerns to BBC News, Mark Owen explained, “When I heard about him checking into rehab, I felt really sad – I just want him to get happy again. I’ll do anything I can to help him. If he wants me to see him, I’ll be straight on that plane.”
