Tabloid Hell: Take That gunning for Oscar glory?
The boyband to win award... next year... possibly
Photo Gallery: Take That
The tabs have worked themselves up into a lather again with the news that Take That have recorded the theme tune to Britflick ’Stardust’.
Bookies William Hill have made the tune 'Rule The World' the 3/1 favourite to win the Best Original Song Oscar at next year’s ceremony.
The starry cast includes Robert De Niro, Claire Danes, Ian McKellen, Sienna Miller and Ricky Gervais.
Sounds good, right? However, the chink in this particular armour seems to be that the flick is produced by Matthew Vaughan, whose last two films were the deeply embarrassing Madonna flick ’Swept Away’ and the, er, deeply embarrassing ’Layer Cake’. Yes, he has also made ’Lock, Stock, And Two Smoking Barrels’, but that was eight years ago.
The fact that the synopsis of the film sounds slightly like the ramblings of former Take That singer Robbie Williams during the ‘prescription drugs Rudebox’ phase doesn’t help either.
According to IMBD the film’s story is as follows: ”In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm."
Reads like a surefire Straight-to-DVD number, doesn’t it?
