A Twitter Q+A with Take That and X Factor star Gary Barlow was derailed last night (November 21) when users of the social network flooded him with questions about tax avoidance.

The singer was hosting the chat to promote his new solo album, 'Since I Saw You Last', which is due for release on November 25. However, with all Twitter users able to send him questions, Barlow was soon being quizzed about the tax avoidance scheme he was revealed to be a part of back in 2012.

At the time, it was revealed that all members of Take That had invested £26 million in a scheme allegedly designed to avoid tax. Barlow, along with Mark Owen and Howard Donald and their manager Jonathan Wild, were reportedly among 1,000 wealthy figures who have invested around £480 million in a scheme, described as a "tax shelter". It was also reported that neither Robbie Williams nor Jason Orange are involved in the investments in any way.

A selection of the tweets sent to Barlow can be seen below. Barlow did not answer any of the questions on tax but did reveal that his favourite time of the day is "morning" and that he likes his tea with "milk and 1 sugar!"

Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has suggested that he may replace Barlow as head judge on The X Factor in the UK when the Take That man returns to his band duty in 2014. With both Barlow and Louis Walsh set to depart the reality show, Cowell is rumoured to be bringing Cheryl Cole and Rita Ora with him to the panel.

Speaking to Metro about his return, Cowell said: "I will at some point. I still miss that, I mean, that show is my baby and that last year we did which was the One Direction year was the most fun I’ve had – it was fantastic. When I look back at the clips now and remind myself about it, it was a really cool year that."

On the subject of Cheryl Cole, he adds: "Cheryl and I patched up our differences a long time ago. I saw her recently, we speak a lot on the phone and text each other, and I think both of us would like the idea of working together again."

Cowell departed the UK version of The X Factor in 2010 to focus on the US version of the programme.
