Rapper Talib Kweli says Peter Andre stole his verse for new album
Kweli says he didn't collaborate with the Aussie singer and reality TV star
Andre's upcoming ninth LP, 'Angels & Demons', features a track called 'Fly Away', which includes a verse rapped by Kweli. However, he has since come forward to say that he never collaborated with 'Mysterious Girl' singer Andre.
Music Week reports that Kweli's verse comes from a mixtape he made with Z-Trip called 'Attack The Block', which was released last month.
Kweli and his team apparently tried to resolve the dispute with Andre's management before they went public with the album details, however, the rapper says their response was "disrespectful". Kweli took to Twitter to call the producer of the track a "douchebag". He wrote:
wow @mrpeterandre you just take people verses from other songs and put them on your album? Thats what hot in the streets? ok… whoever produced Fly Away for @mrpeterandre is a douchebag. They took my verse from another song w/out permission. It's abt to be a fun week
According to Music Week, Peter Andre and his team have yet to comment on the situation.
