Teenage Fanclub have kicked off the UK's biggest ever music festival.
The band launched the Oxjam charity event at Glasgow Barrowlands for the first of 1,000 events spread across the UK throughout October, reports BBC News.
As previously reported on NME.COM, over 12,000 people will be involved in organising musical stunts, record attempts, and countless club nights, gigs and concerts across the country with the aim of raising over £500,000 for Oxfam.
Speaking about the event, Teenage Fanclub singer Norman Blake said: "We originally got together in my granny's bedroom in Bellshill. You too could form a DIY band, play some gigs, make some noise and fight poverty at the same time. You never know what it might achieve."
Events taking place throughout October include Buskathon, a 24-hour, non-stop busk being held simultaneously in ten cities across the country, a UK karaoke record attempt in Manchester plus live dates from the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Embrace, Hot Chip, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, De La Soul and Scissor Sisters.
As part of the event, Kasabian have tried their hand at forming a string quartet and The Futureheads went busking on the London Underground.
