Tenacious D's "mystical" feature film is now halfway complete - and the soundtrack is likely to be the follow-up to their 2001 debut album.
Jack Black's group have been working with 'United States Of Whatever' star Liam Lynch on the script to 'Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny'.
Lynch said that the plot of the movie "follows the stages the D had to go through, as well as one of their first character-building quests, to help prepare them to be the greatest band in the world."
The script, which has unbelievably been put together from six different movie treatments, is now 50% complete, with shooting likely to start before the end of the year.
"For the last four weeks, every night -- we don't even take one night out -- Jack comes over and we write all the dialog and jokes," Lynch told Billboard.
"We know what has to happen in every scene now, so it's just a matter of getting the wording right. It does have some wonderful fantasy sequences and some mystical sequences."
Tenacious D are also putting together the film score, which may eventually become the follow-up to their 2001 record.
Lynch added: "As we're writing, we're recording all these little crumbs of song ideas. There are obviously several musical scenes and some that are almost like a musical or a video. There are other scenes of them in their apartment working on a tune."
