The 1975 are on course for Number One on the UK's Official Albums Chart this Sunday (September 8) with their self-titled debut.

The British band released their debut album on Monday (September 2) and it's placed in the top spot on the Official Chart Company's midweek update today (September 4). They lead a trio of new albums currently in the Top Three, with Nine Inch Nails and Rizzle Kicks in second and third with their respective albums 'Hesitation Marks' and 'The Roaring 20s'. The 1975 are currently outselling Nine Inch Nails by two copies to one.

Elsewhere on the Albums Chart, US pop star Ariana Grande looks set to debut at Number Six, while Peter Doherty’s Babyshambles are at Number Eight with 'Sequel To The Prequel'. South London duo Krept & Konan round off the top ten with their album 'Young Kingz' new at Number Ten.

Albums by UB40 (19), John Legend (23), Luciano Pavarotti (25), Glasvegas (28) and Black Spiders (33) are also new on the Official Album Chart.

Over on the UK's Official Singles Chart, Ellie Goulding's two-week reign at Number One with her track 'Burn' looks set to come to an end as Katy Perry's new single 'Roar' sold over 100,000 copies between Sunday and Tuesday at midnight, making it one of the fastest selling singles of the year so far. There are three other new entries on the Singles Chart with Neon Jungle new at Number Ten with their debut 'Trouble' followed by You Me At Six (11) and London Grammar (17).
