New 'The Avalanches' song snippet appears on preview to 'King Kong' musical - listen
Elusive Australian act cover Judy Garland's 'Get Happy' for new musical score
The stage version of King Kong will play at Melbourne's Regent Theatre from May 28 and features musical contributions from an illustrious list of artists including Guy Garvey of Elbow, Massive Attack's 3D, Justice and The Avalanches.
The Australian act, who have released a very limited amount of material following the success of their 2001 album 'Since I Left You', contribute a cover of the song 'Get Lucky', made famous by Judy Garland. Scroll down and click 'play' to hear a series of snippets from the soundtrack, including a teaser from the new Avalanches track.
The music for King Kong is being overseen by composer and arranger Marius de Vries, whose credits include the soundtracks for Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet.
In 2008 it was reported that The Avalanches had finished work on their follow-up to 'Since I Left You', with the band updating their MySpace page to tell fans: "New material soon." However, despite both Ariel Pink and rapper Danny Brown claiming that they have worked on songs for the new album, nothing has been released yet.
