AVALANCHES STAR GETS BIG BREAK

Darren Seltmann suffers the injury onstage in London...

THE AVALANCHES DARREN SELTMANN has broken his ankle for the second time this year.

Seltmann, who provides vocals, bass and drums for The Avalanches, landed awkwardly after jumping from a 20ft speaker stack during the band's show at the London Electric Ballroom (August 22)

He continued to the end of the band's set, but was taken to hospital, where his leg was plastered. He will be on crutches for the next six weeks.

For the next month the group will be in the US doing promotional work, so his injury will not affect any future plans in the short term.
