‘The Avengers’ begins filming, Joss Whedon reveals

Work has begun on the superhero ensemble, reveals director

The Avengers movie has begun shooting, director Joss Whedon has revealed.

The Buffy creator and cult hero is handling Marvel‘s superhero ensemble, which unites Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor.

Now, writing on his official blog at Whedonesque.com, he wrote that shooting was to begin on Sunday (April 24): “Tomorrow we start shooting. Day one. That’s right.”

He added: “We’ll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene at the following address: [Marvel lawyers rush in, take Joss keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in Stormy Monday, drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]. Went too far. My bad.”

Whedon went on to warn fans that information was likely to be thin on the ground for the blockbuster project for the time being.

“It should be a fun day,” he wrote, “followed by eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I’ll be checking in from time to time, if there’s news or I crave attention (ie am awake). None of it will be Avengers news, but I may have tidbits.”
