TIME UP FOR THE BANDITS

But they're still friends...

LIVERPOOL five-piece THE BANDITS have confirmed they have split, but say that club night THE BANDWAGON will continue.

Rumours have been circulating the city for months about the band's demise, though no official statement has been made. But guitarist Gary Murphy has confirmed to NME.COM that the band have broken up.

"The Bandits have definitely split up, everyone knows that," he explained, "but the thing is, me and John (Robinson, frontman) are still friends, so there's still a chance we'll get back together. I really do believe that we'll record something again in the future. We're all just doing different things at the moment."

But the band's break-up doesn’t mean the end for renowned club night The Bandwagon, which has played a significant part in helping the careers of Liverpool bands Coral and The Zutons.

"Rumours are flying around that Saturday’s (June 4) was the last Bandwagon, it’s definitely not. We've already booked bands for the August night," explained Murphy. "Me , John and Scott will all still be involved with the Bandwagon, as will everyone who's always been involved."

The club celebrated its third birthday in the early hours of Monday morning with an impromptu gig in Sefton Park. Murphysays to expect more in the near future. "We're planning on doing a lot more gigs like the one in the park while the weathers still good. We’ll let you know when and where about two hours before!"
