A documentary tracing THE BEATLES’ first assault on AMERICA is to reissued on DVD, 40 years after it was filmed.
Released in February, ‘The Beatles First US Visit’ chronicles the first two weeks when Beatlemania crossed the Atlantic in February 1964.
Shot by by film-making brothers Albert and David Maysles, the original black and white film was originally screened on television in the UK and US in 1964. It became the inspiration for The Beatles movie ‘A Hard Day’s Night’.
The new 80-minute version contains never-before-seen footage, as well as a 50-minute ‘making of’ documentary and an interview with cameraman Albert Maysles.
It follows the band on and offstage through New York, Washington and Miami as their single ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’ climbed to Number One in the US charts.
The DVD will be released in the US on February 3 and worldwide on February 9 by Apple Corps/Capitol Records, following theatrical premieres in New York, Los Angeles and London.
