Songsheet goes for over £150,000
George Harrison's handwritten lyrics for The Beatles' song 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' have sold for $300,000 (£152,552) at an auction in Arizona.
A copy of the lyrics of the song, taken from 1968's 'The Beatles', (commonly known as 'The White Album'), sold for nearly £250,000 less than originally expected.
The working draft, which comprises the earliest known version of the song and contains lines not included in the version featured on the original album, also features Harrison's handwritten corrections.
Other items which sold at the auction in Scottsdale included a picture of a bird drawn by John Lennon, which sold for more than $30,000 (£15,256), reports BBC News.
As previously reported on here on NME.COM all proceeds raised from the sale of Martin’s score, signed by Martin, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Harrison's widow Olivia and John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, and the picture will go to The George Martin Music Foundation.
