STRAWBERRY FIELDS' GATES AREN'T FOREVER!

MERSEYSIDE POLICE have confirmed that the iron gates stolen from outside the STRAWBERRY FIELDS children's home in LIVERPOOL were not stolen to order by an obsessive BEATLES fan, as originally thought.

The 10-foot gates at the front of the Salvation Army children's home, which was immortalised in The Beatles' song 'Strawberry Fields Forever', were sawn off their hinges on Friday (May 12) in broad daylight, and loaded into a transit van.

Police originally believed a diehard Beatles fan was behind the theft, but a scrap-metal dealer in Liverpool tipped off the police the following day and the gates were seized and returned to the home.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told nme.com this morning (May 15) that investigations are continuing into the incident and no arrests have yet been made.
