'I've got too much to do' says drummer in online video

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has ordered his fans to stop sending him fanmail.

The drummer says he's got "too much to do" and warns he'll throw any fanmail in the bin after October 20 in a video posted on his website.

"This is a serious message to everybody watching," Starr says in the clip.

"I want to tell you that after the 20th of October please do not send any fanmail to any address you have. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed.

"I'm warning you with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fanmail. Thank you. No more objects to be signed. Nothing."

It's not clear whether the wealth of fanmail was trigger by 'Brush With Greatness', the 1991 episode of 'The Simpsons' Starr appeared in where he vows to answer every bit of post he recieved from fans, including answering Marge Simpson's question that "Yes, in England we do have French Fries, but we call them chips!"

I'll go one better, Ringo, and ignore your sad coat-tailing career entirely.

Ringo has always been my favorite Beatle...today, I'm not so sure. Getting first out of the way that he might've been stalked or had some deeply personal reason for asking fans to stop corresponding (for arguement's sake we'll say in this case he's just sick of it)...He still owes more to years and legions of dedicated fans than a forty some second video telling them really, to "bugger off" with peace and love. After watching his "Send me no more stuff." video I'm convinced he had his fingers turned the wrong way in salute (if you're English you'll know what I mean). I've worked with throngs of old school stars and minus William Shatner and a few not-worth-men-tioning lesser demi-stars, the majority of them would get flattened by a bus if it came to their lives or a stadium full of fans. George Takei once almost crippled himself in a long distance run wearing shoes designed for him by a fan (who'd gotten the size just a little bit off). So, what exactly has you so busy... (too many hours playing with your yellow-ed submarine)? Would it cost too much to get a personal secretary? Forty-five minutes out of your day signing or too arthritic? With deep regret, two fingers to you too Ringo. Hope you feel the love, love love.

Ringo needs to sit down and think back to why he even has a career right now. Fans. As the least popular (and least attractive) Beatle, he should thank his lucky stars that people are still supporting him to this day, after 45 years!! I'm not sure if he realizes it or not, but coming out with a new album, the LAST thing he wants to do is anger fans. First talking negatively about Liverpool (which happens to be in the titile of his newest album) and now saying that he doesn't want to hear from his fans?!!? Here's another thing you won't be getting from me...my money. Won't be buying albums, downloading songs, going to his website, nothing. I suppose in the entertainment world, any attention is good attention, so I probably shouldn't even be doing this. So farewell to Ringo Starr, and hail the last true remaining Beatle: Paul McCartney.

What an ungrateful sod!!He's bloody lucky to get any fan mail anyway, seeing as he is about as talented as a slinky. He was in the right place at the right time with The Beatles. They could have been so much better had they had a decent drummer. Now he hasn't got time to sign things. I can understand him not wanting to sign things for companies selling on Ebay, but for real fans?He seems like such a miserable old man these days. Probably cos he looks at the millions he has in the bank and thinks that he doesn't deserve them. Even his son Zak is a much better drummer than him. Even now when I hear his terrible voice on yellow sub, or any other song he has sung I skip as soon as is physically possible.

So if Ringo does not to be nice to his fance...we should ignore him completely. Don't buy his new CD and don't see his concerts anymore till he wises up. I mean, what a rude and ignorant way to treat your fans, Ringo. He was always arrogant (he tries to pretend his is so sweet...he isn't).If he wants no attention, give him none! What a total jerk thing to do!And I like the Beatles...well the 3 talented ones!

WHAT A JERK!!!!! Ringo has obviously forgotten that he was a nobody before his fans made him a somebody and made him rich. This just proves that he always was a NOBODY.....JUST A BIG JERK!!

Give the man a break!!!First off, he was personally reading and responding to fan mail, most stars don't do that.Second, how old is he now? Third, I wouldn't want a letter back from a secretary, why bother.

The Beatles are the greatest band in history, but I'm not too bothered about Ringo or his new solo album (which is shit) so I'd like to be under the sea, in an Octopus' Garden, in the shade!
