Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr onstage together for 'Rock Band'

Two remaining Fab Four members appear onstage in California

The two living Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, appeared together onstage at Microsoft's Electronic Entertainment Expo yesterday (June 1) at the University of Southern California to promote the all-new Harmonix game, 'The Beatles: Rock Band'.

The pair took to the stage to make a brief introduction for a preview of the game, with McCartney playing air guitar as he walked on.

"The game is good, the graphics are good, and we look great," joked Starr, as the pair lapped up enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

"I never thought we'd end up as androids," McCartney added before they headed off stage.

The event was the second time the pair have appeared together this year, after playing onstage together in April at a charity show in New York - the first time they had done so in seven years.

The game, on sale on September 9, will include 45 Beatles songs, which the gamer will be able to play along with in a number of Beatles-related settings including the Cavern Club in Liverpool and Shea Stadium in New York.

A bonus song – 'All You Need Is Love' – will be available to buy on the Xbox Live website, Xboxlive.com, the proceeds of which are set to be donated to the Doctors Without Borders charity, the US branch of Medecins Sans Frontieres.

The game will include the following songs:
