Beatles fans gather to create 'Abbey Road' sleeve

Stunt marks classic album's 40th anniversary

Hundreds of fans of The Beatles gathered in London yesterday (August 8) to recreate the famous 'Abbey Road' sleeve art.

The stunt took place outside the legendary studio to mark the 40th anniversary of the band's classic album.

Four Beatles lookalikes strolled across the zebra crossing outside the studio as fans looked on, casuing traffic chaos, reports the BBC.

Beatles tour guide Richard Porter, who organised the recreation, said: "The picture is just so easy to copy - well, normally it is easy to copy. It is simple and it's like a shrine to The Beatles."

Tony Bramwell, The Beatles' former tour manager turned up the mark the occasion, saying: "Other than Paul (McCartney) and Ringo (Starr), I'm the only person alive who was here on that day. It's great to see that the whole thing carries on. Through the musical genres and revolutions of the last 40 years The Beatles are still number one."
