The Beatles, Beyonce and Eminem donate songs to Philippines benefit album

Tracks from Kings of Leon, Katy Perry and Bob Dylan are also among those featured on the charity release

Tracks from The Beatles, Beyonce, Eminem, Bob Dylan and Muse are among those featured on a new charity album in aid of those affected by Supertyphoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

‘Songs for the Philippines’, which is 39 tracks long and available to buy now on iTunes also features contributions including a remix of Katy Perry’s new single ‘Unconditionally’, Lorde non-abum track ‘The Love Club’ and various offerings from musicians as diverse as U2, Madonna, One Direction and Lily Allen.


Proceeds from the album will go to the Philippine Red Cross, while money gained from the iTunes ‘First Stream’ service will also go to help relief efforts in the country.

Other musicians have also recently come forward to lend their help to the ravaged country. Talking Heads frontman David Byrne held a benefit concert with the cast of his musical ‘Here Lies Love’, co-written alongside Fatboy Slim and chronicalling the life of the Philippines’ former first lady Imelda Marcos. US ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ band Journey, meanwhile, donated $350,000 to the United Nations Food Programme to help those affected.
