The Bee Gees' Robin Gibb is currently recovering in hospital following an operation over the weekend.

The singer, who recently declared he was in remission from liver cancer, was readmitted to hospital to have surgery on a recurring twisted bowel. A statement, released by the singer's management, read: "On Sunday March 25, Robin Gibb underwent further intestinal surgery."

In 2003, Robin Gibb lost his brother Maurice, who died of complications suffered from contracting a twisted intestine.

Gibb is currently working on his classical debut, 'The Titanic Requiem', with his son RJ. The score, which is based on the sinking of the Titanic, will mark the 100th anniversary of the disaster.

A concert to celebrate the album's release is scheduled to take place on April 10 at London's Central Hall. To enable himself to be fit for the premiere, Gibb has cancelled all public appearances prior to the gig.

The statement continued: "He is currently recovering in hospital and therefore, for the time being, all existing commitments, prior to the Titanic Requiem concert, have had to be cancelled."

Gibb was due to attend the London launch of a poppy salute for the Bomber Command memorial fund.

Earlier this month, the singer blamed his recent poor health on the price of fame , saying he wondered if it was "karmic".
