The Black Crowes cancel handful of US shows

The Black Crowes have cancelled a handful of upcoming Californian shows after a band member was taken ill.

The cancelled shows include last night's gig in Mesa, Arizona, tonight's show in Los Angeles and their headlining slot at the San Diego Street Scene on Saturday (September 20).

In a statement issued yesterday (September 16), the band said: "We sincerely regret to inform you that the following dates are being cancelled due to a band member's unexpected illness.

"Despite our best efforts, it is not possible to reschedule the canceled shows at this time. However, we are working diligently to reschedule these markets in early 2009. Fans are encouraged to obtain refunds from their original place of purchase.

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation may cause our fans. We greatly appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you soon."

The cancelled dates are:

Mesa, AZ Ikeda Theatre (September 16)
Los Angeles, CA Greek Theatre (17)
Santa Barbara, CA County Bowl (19)
San Diego Street Scene San Diego, CA (20)
Santa Rosa, CA Wells Fargo Center (21)

As of now, all remaining dates are set to go ahead as planned.
