The roar of 'Lions'will be with us soon...

THE BLACK CROWES will release their new studio album on May 14, NME.com can reveal.

The album, 'Lions' is their sixth studio record and will appear through V2 to whom Black Crowes recently signed.

'Lions' was recorded in a converted Yiddish musical theatre in New York with producer Don Was, formerly of Was Not Was but more recently renowned as a producer for major leagues acts like Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Willie Nelson.

Additionally the Black Crowes have lined up a handful of US live shows in the run-up to the release. They will also play a number of shows with Oasis, though dates have yet to be confirmed.

The Black Crowes dates are as follows:
Charlotte, North Carolina Center City Fest 2001 (April 28) Zephyr Hills, Florida Festival Park (29) West Palm Beach, Florida Sunfest 2001 (May 3) Atlanta, Georgia Music Town (4) Nashville, Tennessee River Stages (5) Memphis, Tennessee Beale Stree Music Festival (6)

The band will also play a gig in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest music festival on March 16.
