Rick Rubin hooked bands up

ZZ Top are set to work with The Black Keys, after the bands were introduced to one another via producer Rick Rubin.

Rubin is slated to produce ZZ Top’s new album, and according to Billy Gibbons, he hooked The Black Keys up with ZZ Top for some writing and maybe recording.

"I'm such a big fan of those guys ... it makes total sense," Gibbons, told Billboard "And that's pretty down and dirty, which is good for ZZ Top."

According to the report, Gibbons demoed 15 tracks over 15 days in May this year, describing the new material as “everything from a black church gospel ballad to updated versions of 'Rollin' and Tumblin'.”

Gibbons is also among the artists to feature on the forthcoming ‘Metal Christmas’ album, on which he teamed up with Dave Grohl and Lemmy from Motorhead for a version of Chuck Berry's ‘Run, Rudolph, Run’.
