Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA for Black Keys collaboration album
BLAKROC set to release album in November
Mos Def, Q-Tip, Wu Tang Clan's RZA and Raekwon, Ludacris and Pharoahe Monch are among the hip-hop acts who have collaborated with The Black Keys for a new project, BLAKROC.
MOP's Billy Danze and NOE, Jim Jones and Nicole Wray have also taken part in the project. BLAKROC will release an self-titled album on November 30.
The album also features vocals from the late Wu Tang Clan member Ol' Dirty Bastard, but includes no other samples, instead boasting live-recorded music and vocals.
The album was recorded in Brooklyn from early summer 2009.
"Experimenting with different sounds and genres of music has always been important to me," said Q-Tip of the project. "While collaborating in the studio with The Black Keys and [producer] Damon Dash may seem like an unusual fit, it felt natural.
"We were able to bring our own unique strengths and experiences together, that signifies the true artistry of music. I think this is something that all fans of music will appreciate."
