TELLIN' GHOST STORIES! The Charlatans Tickets

The band are excited by the "tough vibe" of 'Up At The Lake'...

TELLIN' GHOST STORIES!
THE CHARLATANS have revealed that new album 'UP AT THE LAKE' is "stripped down", and "haunting".

The band have only just completed work on the follow-up to 2001's 'Wonderland'.

"I think you can expect it to be a lot different from the last one. It's going good," explains frontman Tim Burgess on the band's website. "It's a tough vibe... like a rock."

"It's a very stripped down sound," explained bassist Martin Blunt. "The songs are very haunting and stick with you. Back in December during some of the nights when we were in full recording it did remind me of 'Lost Highway' by David Lynch."

"The way it's progressed and the idea that we've got for the title of the LP it's quite haunting. All I can say now is it sounds like The Charlatans, it really does," Blunt explained.

"With each record we often reflect on what's going on in our lives at the moment and in our surroundings and then sometimes it's just a good riff or melody that we vibe of," explained Burgess. "As for this new album, it will always bring back memories of the old cottage in Bodmin, Cornwall (right next to the jail and the place we wrote some of the record). It was very dark and bleak, not to mention 'the lake'. So, that's where my head is at the moment - BOO!".

Burgess also revealed that he does plan to release more solo material. "There will be more solo records," he said. "But, there is no plan to do one this year...".
