The Charlatans preview new material in London
Frontman Tim Burgess dedicates song to Alan McGee
The five-piece were in top form during their nearly two-hour set, which included classic tracks 'Weirdo' and 'The Only One I Know', in addition to songs from their forthcoming album 'You Cross My Path'.
"Here's a new song called 'Mistakes' that sounded pretty good in soundcheck," frontman Tim Burgess told the crowd.
Burgess seemed right at home, shaking hands, waving and blowing kisses to friends and fans throughout the night. The crowd responded in turn, jumping up and down and singing along to nearly every song.
Near the end of the night, Burgess dedicated 'Architect' to former Creation Records' boss and Charlatans' band manager Alan McGee, who watched from the balcony.
After their set, Burgess told NME.COM that he thought the gig turned out great, despite feeling jetlagged from a recent trip to Los Angeles.
"The trick is to sleep when you can and drink a lot of Red Bull," he said.
The Charlatans played:
'Weirdo'
'Just Lookin''
'Blackened Blue Eyes'
'Mistakes'
'Can't Get Out Of Bed'
'Blind Stagger'
'Judas'
'Love Is The Key'
'Bad Days'
'My Beautiful Friend'
'One To Another'
'The Only One I Know'
'Oh Vanity'
'Architect'
'You're So Pretty (We're So Pretty)'
'How High'
'Cross My Path'
'This Is The End'
'Tellin' Stories'
'Sproston Green'
The band are set to play a second gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire tonight (November 6).
