James Dean Bradfield and The Vaccines join Jon Brookes tribute concert line-up
Charity gig will take place at London's Royal Albert Halll on October 18
The gig will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity on October 18 with Liam Gallagher and friends performing on a bill which also now includes Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield and members of The Vaccines and New Order.
Tickets for the gig are on sale here now. Brookes passed away peacefully in hospital on the morning of August 13, with his family at his bedside. Brookes had been receiving treatment for a brain tumour since suffering a seizure on tour in Philadelphia in 2010. Though he continued to perform with The Charlatans – he was back on stage a month after his US collapse – he underwent several operations and received radiotherapy and chemotherapy. He suffered a relapse in September 2012 and was operated on as recently as July this year.
Burgess paid tribute to Brookes in a blog he wrote for NME.COM in which he says: "Last week we lost a brother, a friend, a band member and a huge part of all our lives."
The charity show will be one of Liam Gallagher's first appearances since Beady Eye guitarist Gem Archer injured himself earlier this year. The guitarist was hospitalised on August 1 with severe head trauma, forcing the band to cancel all scheduled live performances for August, including appearances at V Festival. It has since been reported that Archer fractured his skull after falling down a flight of stairs at home, but Beady Eye have confirmed that Archer is "expected to make a full recovery".
The full line-up includes:
James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers
Liam Gallagher and friends
Members of The Vaccines and New Order
The Chemical Brothers (DJing between bands)
