1999'S DANCE OSCARS

Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx cleaned up at last night's Muzik Magazine dance awards which took place at north London's Gainsborough Studios.

The Chemicals took Best Live Act and Best Album (for 'Surrender') while Basement Jaxx walked off with Best Album By A New Artist for 'Remedy'.

Event Of The Year went to Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Helden for their Heavyweight DJ Champion Of The World bout. FBS also got Best Promo Video for 'Praise You'.

Faithless won Best Band while Tim Westwood took Best Radio Show, Judge Jules got Best UK DJ, Paul Van Dyk took Best International DJ, Best Ibiza Event was Cream at Amnesia, London's Subterrain at The End was Best Underground Club while the Best Club Award went to Gatecrasher.

You can hear highlights of the awards ceremony tonight on Pete Tong's Essential Mix on Radio 1 from 6pm.
