Clash have been voted the best punk band of all time by readers of NME ORIGINALS, pushing expected winners THE SEX PISTOLS into second place. Punk godfathers Clash came third.
In a surprising outcome the Internet only vote revealed that 29.9% of voters chose Ramones as the greatest punk band ever - the Sex Pistols achieved 23.3% of the vote.
The full top ten is:
Ramones: 29.9%
Sex Pistols: 23.2%
Buzzcocks: 14.9%
: 6.8%
Television: 6%
: 4%
: 2.7%
: 1.6%
The latest edition of NME Originals is out now and features Oasis is out now, however there are a limited number of NME Originals: The Beatles and NME Originals: Punk! Are available to order on a first come first served basis by clicking on the names.
