The Coral showcase new material at London charity show

And Noel Gallagher plays second acoustic night

The Coral made their live return last night (March 27) at London's Royal Albert Hall in support of Noel Gallagher’s second and final headline show for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Liverpool band treated fans to two new songs, as well as classics from their first three albums.

Kicking off proceedings with 2005 hit ’In The Morning’, singer James Skelly crooned his way through further fan favourites ‘Goodbye’, ‘Dreaming Of You’, ‘Far From The Crowd’ and ‘Simon Diamond’.

The band also played three tracks from their 2003 Number One album ’Magic And Medicine' - ’Liezah’, ‘Bill McCai’ and ’Pass It On’.

The Coral then unveiled the newly-written ’Who’s Going To Find Me?’ before later playing ’Put The Sun Back’, both set to feature on their forthcoming fourth album. The set ended on a celebratory note with a joyful rendition of The Everly Brothers classic ’Bye Bye Love'.

In a identical set to the one played the previous night (March 26), Noel Gallagher played an acoustic set that celebrated a plethora of back catalogue Oasis classics and thoughtful covers.

Highlighting his love for his own support band, the star asked the crowd: “So what about The Coral, eh? I thought they were pretty fucking good.”

Watched on by his Kasabian pal Serge Pizzorno in the balcony above, Gallagher dedicated the anthemic ’Cast No Shadow’ to “my mate Serge”, before he was joined for the second night running by Paul Weller, of whom Gallagher said: “He’s still the guvnor”.

The evening was brought to a spectacular close with Britpop classics ’Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ’Married With Children'.
