The Courteeners take on Scouting For Girls at V Festival

Liam Fray and co have a dig at Main Stage rivals at Stafford

The Courteeners played the Stafford leg of this year's V Festival this afternoon (August 16) - taking a swipe at Scouting for Girls in the process.

The band played a typically robust set on the 4Music Stage, showcasing debut album 'St Jude'.

Hailing from Manchester, the group enjoyed a "hometown" crowd who joined in with several loud sing-a-longs during the set.

The band also praised their audience for avoiding their V Stage (the bash's Main Stage) rivals.

"Thank you for watching us instead of Scouting for Girls," declared frontman Liam Fray[/a]. "Now on with the show."

[B]Fray
also had a word of warning for any of the crowd contemplating a holiday romance, dedicated cautionary love song 'Bide Your Time' to "anyone who's been on holiday this year".

The Courteeners played:

'Aftershow'
'Acrylic'
'Cavorting'
'Bide Your Time'
'Please Don't'
'Kings Of The New Road'
'Fallowfield Hillbilly'
'You're Not 19 Forever'
'What Took You So Long'

and it's a bit offensive the way you and the guardian keep referring to any festival crowd as what watch the courteeners as coming from manchester. were the thousands that watched at benacassim in spain, the fuji in japan, oxegen in dublin and at the O2 festival in london all from the 'hometown'? as liam would say... i really don't think so.
