Courteeners announce second Liverpool live date

Band say the move is designed to combat touting

The Courteeners have announced that they will play an additional live show at the Liverpool Academy on March 6 after the previously-announced March 7 show at the venue sold out.

In a statement frontman Liam Fray said that the band decided to add the second date after finding out that fans were paying through the odds on the secondary market to get tickets to the sold-out show.

"We have the best fans in the world and the thought that they were handing over £200 through Seatwave and eBay to ticket touts to see us really annoyed me," he said. "So we thought we'd take control and put another date on for them all to come and see us for a fair price."

Following the shows The Courteeners will head to the USA to play a series of dates.

Tickets for the March 6 Liverpool show go on sale tomorrow (February 17) at 9am (GMT).

hollow reasoning Fray, it's so obvious you and your management would rather exploit the ticket demand for yourselves. if you were so keen to avoid fans being ripped off, you would have announced a second date the minute the first sold out, and not wait weeks to do so.
