Courteeners tell Leeds Festival crowd not to talk to their ex-girlfriends

The Courteeners told fans not to speak to their ex-girlfriends as they played two new songs at Leeds Festival this afternoon (August 28).

Playing a rain-drenched set on the Main Stage, the Manchester band kicked off their performance with 2007 single 'Cavorting', before singer Fray, dressed in a long red overcoat, declared: "Leeds Festival starts now."

The band sandwiched new tracks - 'The Good Times Are Calling' and 'Sycophant', both of which they debuted at T In The Park last month - between a series of singles and fan favourites.

As Fray launched into break-up anthem 'Please Don't', he joked: "If your ex-girlfriend is here don't speak to her all weekend."

Rounding off the set, the singer added, "We haven't played for a while and we didn't know how we'd go down but you've been fucking great," before the crowd sang along to 'Not Nineteen Forever' and 'What Took You So Long?'.
