The Courteeners: 'We're waiting for Adele's phonecall' – video The Courteeners Tickets
Liam Fray confirms the band's third album will be released in September
Speaking to NME at T In The Park in a video which you can watch above, singer Liam Fray said that the band had finished the follow up to 2010's 'Falcon'. He said:
It's being mixed now and it'll hopefully be out in September. It took a long time to write, it's pretty serious, in terms of its subject matter, but it doesn't take itself very seriously. You can't say something really heartfelt, without cracking a joke in there too. That's what it's like.
When asked about the sound of the new material, Fray added: "It doesn't sound like us. I don't even think our second album sounded like us. Once you think you have a sound, you're limiting yourself in what you can produce."
Fray also spoke about his wish to collaborate with Adele."You feel like you're on her side, when she's writing about stuff, you feel like you're friend, when you hear it on the radio and I think we're a bit like that," he said. "I'm still waiting for that phonecall, she's too busy getting pregnant."
The Courteeners most recently released a live DVD, titled 'Live at Manchester MEN Arena'. The DVD was filmed during the band's sold out gig at Manchester's Evening News Arena last December. They are also booked to play this summer's
Reading And Leeds Festival.
