The Courteeners' Liam Fray has said he doesn't fancy his band's chances of nabbing the Number One spot in the Official UK Album Chart with their third record 'Anna'.

At 7pm tonight (February 10), this week's Official UK Album Chart will be announced but the Manchester band, who were top in the mid-week chart, think a late surge in sales from the Les Miserables soundtrack will prevent them from scoring their first UK Number One.

Speaking exclusively to NME, frontman Liam Fray admitted: "I don't think we’re going to be Number One. In fact I know we're not going to be Number One because we’ve not paid for television adverts…"

He added: "We were Number One at mid-week and that was by a few thousand but I've seen the figures in the last few days. I know how it goes. I've been in this position before. I've been Number One before until Saturday. Les Mis has been doing 40,000 a week for the last few weeks. Jake Bugg was on Radio 2 on Monday morning with Chris Evans with 15 million people, do you know what I mean?"

However, Fray says it's "testament" to the band if they get anywhere near the top spot, as he feels they have had no support from mainstream media. He said: "People don't like it when you're northern and talented and good-looking."

'Anna' is The Courteeners third album and follows on from 2010's 'Falcon' and their 2008 debut album 'St.Jude'. The band set out on an 18-date UK tour later this month, beginning at Nottingham's Rock City on February 21.

Check back to NME.com at 7pm (GMT) tonight to see if The Courteeners score their first ever Official UK Number One Album.
