Speaking about the tour, The Cribs' frontman Ryan Jarman said: “It feels so exciting. Whenever I go on tour I say I’m going to war – and this is a very exciting war!”

The coveted opening slot, which has been in previous years filled by Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand, is being taken by The Ting Tings.

Drummer and vocalist Jules De Martino said: “We’re chuffed to bits. We’ve got the legendary first spot – we’re going to have a right blast then party for the rest of the night. It’s going to be our year highlight, even though it starts in January.”
