The Cribs joined by Franz Ferdinand for tiny Leeds gig

The Cribs were joined by superstar support band Franz Ferdinand last night (December 19) as they played a tiny gig at the Leeds Brudenell Social Club.

The gig was the first of three consecutive live shows the band are playing at the venue, during which they will play one of their three albums in their entirety.

Last night the band played their debut, self-titled album.

Before the band took the stage, Franz Ferdinand played a short live set including ‘Matinee’, ‘Michael’ and ‘Take Me Out’, plus four brand new songs, including ‘Can’t Stop This Feeling’.

Between Franz Ferdinand’s set and The Cribs’, the bands and crowd took part in party games including pass the parcel and bingo. A large ‘Merry Cribsmas’ banner was draped from the ceiling.

Before playing their debut album, The Cribs performed five tracks which originally comprised the band’s first demo, including ‘I’m Gonna Go To LA’ – the song being debuted live six years after it was written.

The band were watched by lucky fans who has snapped up tickets minutes after them going on sale, as well as Kate Nash, The Pigeon Detectives and Kaiser Chiefs.

The Cribs will perform their second album, ‘The New Fellas’, tonight (20) at the same venue.
