The Cribs end 16-month tour with a bang in LA

The Cribs ended nearly 16 straight months of touring with one final show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday night (April 4).

The Jarman brothers were in a festive mood during their 70-minute set, announcing to the crowd that they planned to live it up and party hard on the final night of their tour.

"You won't see us for at least six months, so if you want to get all sentimental and start crying about it, now's the time to do it," quipped frontman Ryan Jarman.

In addition to playing several tracks from their recent album 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever', the Wakefield trio played a cover of The Replacements' 'Bastards Of Young' and dedicated a song to their canine friend "Ollie, the best dog in the world."

Several high-octane numbers got the crowd moshing and pogoing. By the end of the night, a number of fans tried to jump on stage with the band, but their efforts were quickly thwarted by the venue's bouncers who carried them off stage.

The band concluded with a raucous finale that saw bassist Gary Jarman shouting an incomprehensible diatribe at the crowd before stage diving and Ross Jarman knocking over his drum kit while leaving the stage.

Kicking off the night were New York band Ra Ra Riot, who have been touring with The Cribs throughout the US.

The chamber-pop six piece previewed new material from their forthcoming debut album, recorded with Ryan Hadlock (The Gossip, Stephen Malkmus).

Their heart-felt, high-energy set garnered huge cheers from the crowd, to which frontman Wes Miles enthusiastically responded "We love you right back!"

The band are now preparing to embark on a co-headlining tour of the US with The Little Ones, as previously reported.
