The Cribs christened Johnny Marr as an honorary Jarman brother at Leeds Festival tonight (August 22).

Former Smiths guitarist Marr has been playing with the band since the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour earlier this year, and was introduced to the crowd before new song 'Victims Of Mass Production'.

"This is a song I wrote with Johnny Jarman," singer Ryan Jarman told the crowd.

Playing a triumphant headline slot on the NME/Radio 1 Stage, the Wakefield/Manchester band made light of their set going head-to-head with Metallica on the Main Stage, with Ryan Jarman announcing: "Metallica are playing over there, you know."

Despite the heavyweight metal competition the four-piece packed out the tent, and the likes of 'Men's Needs' and 'Our Bovine Public' were given a rapturous reception.

The band introduced themselves to the stage in traditional fashion, with Ryan Jarman declaring: "We're The Cribs from Wakefield."

Jarman later ripped off his shirt and dived into the crowd during 'The Wrong Way To Be'.

Closer 'I'm A Realist' was marred by technical problems, however, leaving the crowd to bellow the words as the band left the stage.

The Cribs played:

'Our Bovine Public'
'Hey Scenesters'
'Don't You Wanna Be Relevant'
'Victims Of Mass Production'
'Girls Like Mystery'
'I've Tried Everything'
'Kind Words For The Broken Hearted'
'Women's Needs'
'Moving Pictures'
'Another Number'
'Mirror Kissers'
'Men's Needs'
'Be Safe'
'The Wrong Way To Be'
'I'm A Realist'
